11 Faith-Based Christian Movies About Dating That Will Make You Fall In-Love With God’s Plan (2024)

11 Faith-Based Christian Movies About Dating That Will Make You Fall In-Love With God’s Plan (1)

I have four daughters who are all grown now and starting adult life. My youngest is 17, and my oldest is in her 20s. That means that we are in the season of dating with the view of marriage around the corner. That means it is very important what men my daughters bring home.

My girls love romantic movies, and TV shows. They are often looking for a good romantic comedy movie to watch together. My husband and I are also on the lookout for a good Christian romance film to watch for the next date night. God’s love for us is the most important love we will ever experience.

Through the power of faith and love, we can pass on the love of Jesus Christ to the next generation and remind them to look to God for true love.

Here is a list of the best Christian movies that show romance is best when we follow God’s path.

Princess Cut 2: Hearts on Fire

1 Corinthians 13:7Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

The love chapter in 1 Corinthians these bible verses was among the first I memorized as a chapter. When our children are dating it is important to remind them that love is more than a feeling, love is a choice. And we can choose to ignore our feelings of love if we can see the person, we have that feeling for is a bad choice.

But when we choose to love someone and stay in love with them even when things are hard. Of all the powerful messages our children need to hear, that is perhaps the most important one.

In this Christian film, we see the stories of a few different couples, and how they each react to difficult times. Robert and Lauren Anderson are thrilled to be expecting after years of trying to have a baby.

Lauren worries that she won’t be able to appropriately raise a family and run her athletic shop despite Grace’s assurances and motherly example. Her aspirations are raised by little achievement, but when life’s storms collide, they all come to the point of despair.

There are struggles on the farm, and another couple wonders if they can keep the farm and their marriage alive. And another couple is hit with an unexpected pregnancy, and it might cause their breakup.

This movie is a reminder to make sure that your daughters don’t marry the wrong men.

A Walk to Remember

I grew up in the 90s with the romance films of that time period. This movie came out the year I was married in 2002. It has the 90s teen movie vibe that I loved growing up. When I saw the movie for the first time, I loved it. It was a huge hit at the box office.

The plot starts predictably in the way the 90s teen movies were. There is a reason it is on the list of almost every girl I know as the great romantic movie of our generation. This is the story of a high school jock who falls in love with a conservative nerd named Jamie. She just happens to be the town pastor’s daughter.

They fall in love… but there is a heartbreaking secret that changes everything and will have you crying.

While this is not a Christian drama, it is written for a faith-based audience. You can watch this movie tonight on Amazon Prime.

Coffee Shop

We are a coffee family. We love coffee. And when my husband and I were dating we spent a lot of time at the coffee shop near our college campuses. It is where I fell in love with pumpkin spice lattes and my husband.

In this Christian drama, we see a romance bud between a coffee show owner and a Christian writer.

I love romantic comedies, and this is a great one. The woman in this romantic comedy is a coffee shop owner named Donavan. She can make the best coffee, but she can’t seem to master dating. Then she finds out her coffee shop is going to be closed.

This is when she begins to fall in love with a Christian writer named Ben. Will Donavan be able to discover true love in time to salvage the coffee shop and reclaim her faith in others and herself?

Pamela’s Prayer

This movie was filmed in 1998, but it looks and sounds like it was filmed in the early 90s or late 80s. It is a very low-quality film… but a great story. I really wish they would remake it again so it would be better quickly because the story is so wonderful.

This is the story of a young girl with an overly protective father. His rules seem very unfair. She is always a good girl and tries to follow her father’s rules. The father will only allow his daughter to date someone with the same Christian value that he has.

In this Christian faith movie, we see a praying father, and a receptive daughter, and God’s omnipotence is told in Pamela’s Prayer. It is purity raised to new heights and trust realized.

This is one of the Christian love movies that will remind you of the impact a parent can have on their child’s dating life. This movie tells the story of Pamela Bucklin’s life from her birth in 1969 through her wedding day in 1991.

The day she was born, her mother passed away. Her father instilled in her the value of purity and marriage. Her high school friends were all in a romantic relationship. But Pamela wasn’t, and this was hard for her. She is angry with her father’s insistence on such a strict purity standard.

But the day she was married, she finally understood.

Sunrise in Heaven

I love movies that show a lifelong romance, and this is one of those movies. This is a true love story based on the true story of a married woman remembering the story of her marriage.

This is the story of a woman who must draw courage from her religion as she confronts the possibility of her loving husband’s death after a tragic car accident puts him on life support.

She remembers the start of their relationship and how they fell in love. Their path wasn’t simple because she had to deal with her conservative officer father who made it plain that he didn’t want his daughter marrying a member of the armed forces.

But in this true story of family, faith, and resiliency, their love was stronger than any challenge they faced.

Christian Mingle

Some of my favorite Christian comedians make me laugh when they show what church culture looks like to someone who has never been a part of the church. It is always funny to see that perspective. Imagine someone who has no idea about church culture suddenly trying to pretend they have been part of it for years. That is a Christian comedy waiting to happen.

This is the story of a woman who has everything except love. She thinks she is searching for romantic love, but she is really searching for God’s love.

It’s all there for Gwyneth Hayden. She believes the only thing lacking is a man despite having a stellar career, an amazing wardrobe, a perfect apartment, and wonderful friends.

She thinks online dating is a good idea and creates a profile on the dating site ChristianMingle.com in a fit of inspired desperation in the hopes of meeting Mr. Gwyneth’s faith is a little rusty, though, and her attempts to win over the perfect man are doomed if she can’t pull off her “faux faith.”

Home Sweet Home

If you enjoyed Christian Mingle, you will like Home Sweet Home. They share somewhat of a similar storyline, despite this, it’s still an awesome movie to watch.

This is the story of Victoria Tremont who is bored with her life as a social butterfly and wants to meet someone special. Naturally, she turns on the charm when a handsome stranger enters the coffee shop where she works. She is confused, though, when he doesn’t respond to her flirtation in the way that guys typically do.

She learns that he oversees a ministry that constructs affordable housing and realizes that all she needs to do to catch his attention is a volunteer.

Why should she care if it’s a religious organization? She can pretend to be a church person, right? But Jason has already decided he doesn’t want to date someone who won’t take commitment seriously. He serves a purpose as the coordinator for Home Base, a nonprofit organization that builds affordable housing for those who otherwise cannot afford it.

Can Victoria make him fall in love with her?

Because of Gracia

My youngest daughter is about to start her last year of high school. It is a wonderful time in the life of a young person. I love to find movies for her that show high school girls as strong and empowered.

This is the story of a young man trying to get through high school unnoticed. His life changes when a new student enters his classroom. The most beautiful girl he has ever seen. Although Grácia is a charming, intelligent, and determined young woman, she has some trouble she is keeping secrets.

Grácia pushes her friends, teachers, and even herself to break the mold as students face life-or-death choices. Grácia’s amazing courage inspires everyone around her, making it simpler for them to speak out and fall in love. In this movie, we see that Christian teenagers can make an impact on a school when they are bold in their testimony.

Finding Normal

I grew up watching Full House, so Candace Cameron Bure is one of my favorite actresses.

I love watching her movies, and here was another excellent romantic Christian film with Candace staring in it. I found this movie when I was looking for a movie to watch while I folded laundry, and quickly became a favorite.

In the movie Finding Normal, Candace Cameron Bure’s character Dr. Lisa Leland has a 2600-mile trip from Los Angeles to Long Island before she can have her perfect dream Hamptons wedding. However, after a run-in with the law in the little Louisianan town of Normal, Lisa is forced to choose between incarceration and community service.

When Lisa is given a three-day stint as the town’s doctor, a young man soon turns her life upside down, and she soon learns that there is much more to the city of Normal.

Fat Chance

I have a relative who struggles with weight gain, and I know that the struggle to find self-worth, love, and acceptance is hard to find. We live in a society that puts a lot of pressure on our young people to look a certain way.

This is a great movie to show our children to remind them that it is important to see people for who they truly are, and not just how they look.

In Fat Chance, we get to know Alison, a chubby dental assistant, who is struggling to discover her self-worth. After starting an online connection with Justin, a longtime friend and crush. The issue is that she utilized her handsome friend’s picture on her online dating site, which is what first attracted Justin.

Alison balances all of herself throughout the summer while living with Justin, but eventually, the secret comes out. Fat Chance, based on a true tale, is an emotional look at a young woman who struggles to discover self-worth not in terms of physical looks but rather in terms of acceptance from others for who she is. If Justin is a good man, then he will see the real her.

Jesus Revolution

This is the best dating movie you can see. While it is a story of a revival time in the 1970s. It is also a story of how Greg Laurie met and married his wife, Catherine. Greg meets Catherine when she is a young woman fighting against her parents and looking for someone to do drugs with.

Greg and Catherin quickly become best friends and join other young adults doing drugs and celebrating free love. In this powerful drama, we see the true story of not only Greg Laurie, but also Pastor Chuck Smith, and the hippie-street preacher Lonnie Frisbee.

It is through the testimony of both the pastor and Lonnie that both Greg and Catherine come to Christ.

This is a wonderful love story that has high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and is my favorite in the list of faith-based films about dating.
