I have great news for you! From now on our talented recipe developer Lauren Lester will be helping us create even more video recipes! Let's start with this quick & easy keto chocolate mousse :-)

This Simple Keto Chocolate Mousse is fluffy and sweet and makes the perfect ending to any day! Sweetened with a bit of Stevia you’ll skip the sugar crash that typically follows a sweet dessert like this one.

This recipe couldn’t be easier with just 5 ingredients: heavy cream, cacao powder, cinnamon, and stevia. That’s it! I love the little touch of cinnamon that complements the chocolate flavor.

Note: Recipe makes 2 regular servings that can be stretched to 4 mini parfaits. Sweetener can be used to taste. Here's a list of suitable low-carb sweeteners. If you can't have dairy, check out my Dairy-Free Keto Chocolate Mousse!

Hi. I only have granulated monkfruit sweetener with erythitol. I live in Korea and hard to get other stuff. Can I use instead of drops? Also, how much would that convert to?

Martina @ KetoDiet 3 years ago # Reply

Hi Amber, the best thing to do is to powder the granulated sweetener in a food processor or a coffee grinder. I do that all the time and it's super fine. I'd use 2 to 4 tablespoons of powdered sweetener, depending on your preference.

Absolutely! We have a similar one here: Dairy-Free Keto Simple Chocolate Mousse

Mary Frances 3 years ago # Reply

Does it keep? It makes 2 serves but I could only eat 1. Can I save the other serve a day or will it separate in the fridge?

Martina @ KetoDiet 3 years ago # Reply

Good question! Yes, you can keep it in the fridge for up to 3 day1 (added) 😊

Just made this for my husband and I. We had been missing desserts hugely only keto. 2 years on keto and 145 lbs down between the two of us.
We avoided desserts and the sweet stuff out of fear of over indulgence..... I have to say this is DANGEROUS! Super easy to make, and damn delicious!
We added a few sugar free chocolate chips into the processor at the last minute to add texture. But all I can say is thank you!
10 / 10 will totally make again! Two very happy men in the Middle East here!

Martina @ KetoDiet 3 years ago # Reply

Thank you Daniel, simple treats are the best! 😊 I'm so happy for you! Well done to you and your husband! Keto on!

I do have to note, I did try this for the first time and I need to tweak it just a bit. The cinnamon was wayyy too overpowering. I almost chocked lol. Anyways, the texture, and taste overall (except the cinnamon) was really good. I'd recommend only adding about 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon for a better taste. Was good overall thank you for sharing the recipe!!

Thank you Luis, I'll add that in the notes!

This was really delicious....I'm just not sure how it is rated at 5.4 net carbs....
1 cup of whipped cream has 12 carbs and 3 tsp of erythritol has 12 carbs...divided by 2 servings is 12 net carbs/serving.I guess if you don't put any sweetener then it would be 6 carbs.

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Thank you Janice! We use a verified database to calculate all nutritional information so all details are accurate (we use the same database in our app: ketodietapp.com/). Erythritol has zero carbs and has no effect on blood sugar. Many apps/websites use crowd sourced data that contain errors and inaccurate nutrition facts.

Adri 4 years ago # Reply

Erythritol carbs are not counted in "net" carbs. Erythritol is not digested and goes through you, while not elevating blood sugar.

Hi! I was wondering if it's okay to use splenda? My mom is doing this diet and that's what she mostly has, but I see everyone mentioning Stevia and Swerve and things like that, so I wanted to ask before I messed up the recipe.

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Hi Chanel, I personally don't use Splenda or other artificial sweeteners (I don't see why it wouldn't work though). Here are some other options you can use: Top 6 Keto Sweeteners and Low-Carb Sweetener Conversion Chart

Elena 5 years ago # Reply

Hello, i have read your list of sweeteners and most of them i can only find online and they are quite costly. I found a brand at Morissons the other day and the price was quite reasonable. It's called Truvia. Have you heard of it before, is it Keto friendly ? I did a bit of research online but i get conflicting information. Could you shed some light please ?
Thank you.
PS. I absolutely love your blog, you're the reason i started Keto after thinking about it for donkey's years !! I just thought it was way too restrictive and i wouldn't be able to follow it but when i saw your recipes and what you can make i thought i would give it a go !!!

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Thank you so much Elena! Have you checked Amazon? I buy Erythritol in bulk - 2 kg for about £15, 3 kg for about £20 - this amount lasts for ages! Last time I checked the ingredients in Truvia looked ok (erythritol, stevia extract, natural flavours), but the nutrition facts seemed off. It said "75% fewer calories than sugar" but since erythritol and all the other ingredients are almost calorie-free, this doesn't add up. I'd expect almost no calories (erythritol has only 20 kcal per 100 g).

Marcel 5 years ago # Reply

I have "created" this recipe some 4 weeks ago. Just that I add everything after whipping the cream. It's good to know that cream will whip even with cocoa powder in it before. I use fine PureVia (Stevia + Erythritol).
Cinnamon is a nice touch, thanks for that suggestion.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who likes this weird simple (no egg whites) chocolate mousse.

Made 1/4 serving of this tonight in a bullet blender and cross blade. That was probably about the smallest size I could have made and have it work. I just dumped in all of the ingredients and let it go. Took about 20 seconds. I used 2 Truvia packets instead of liquid Stevia and added a drop of vanilla. I used a dash of cinnamon, but it was just a little too much. Still tasty, but a bit more cinnamon than chocolate.
I gave a taste to the family. My wife noted the cinnamon. My 4-year-old loved it. My 15-year-old also loved it. They wanted a second taste.
It's horrible that this is so easy, but it's going into my recipe collection for an easy fat bomb. The quarter serving is a pretty good size, though I may make a larger serving and freeze it for another day.(if I can keep the kids away from it)
Thank you for sharing. This could definitely be a replacement for ice cream when the family wants to get something like that and not "leave me out". 😊

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Thank you for sharing this, Peter! I love how simple it is and that it takes no time to put it together.... and if it's kid-approved what else can you wish for? 😊

Angie 5 years ago # Reply

I've made this twice and it never sets up thick, its always more like a running frosty. I follow the video as I make it but it never gets thick like a mousse. What am I doing wrong?

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Hi Angie, it sounds like the cream may not contain enough fat? Maybe you are using "single cream" that only contains less than 20% fat? You'll need to use cream with about 40% fat. I hope this helps!

kristyreal 5 years ago # Reply

Maybe your cream isn't cold enough? I always get better results when I chill the metal bowl and cream down to get them really cold first. Also, I put the whipped results into a baggie, cut off the corner and pipe little "kisses" onto foil or wax paper then chill. Once chilled I put the majority in the freezer and keep a small amount in the fridge for a nice little bite. I want to try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to mine instead of the cinnamon for some variety.

Virginia 5 years ago # Reply

This recipe was excellent!I have made it twice now.I did add about 1/2 tsp of vanilla and instead of the stevia, I added just a little over 2 Tblsp of Swerve.Delicious!!! Also, it tastes even better if you let it sit in the fridge for a bit.

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Thank you Virginia! I agree, the texture gets even better when you leave it in the fridge for 2+ hours 😊

Kelsey 5 years ago # Reply

I followed the instructions exactly and the consistency is barley thicker than chocolate milk. I don't know what happened!

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Hi Kelley, same as for Angie above, it sounds like the cream may not contain enough fat? Maybe you are using "single cream" that only contains less than 20% fat? You'll need to use cream with about 40% fat. I hope this helps!

This recipe is absolutely delicious. The only thing I changed was the amount of cocoa. I used 2 Tbs instead of 3. So easy to make.

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Thank you Angela! I admit I like mine bittersweet so 2 tablespoons are better for mild chocolate.

3 tbsp is WAY too much cacao powder. That stuff has a KICK! When I tasted the original recipe, my face automatically scrunched up from the bitterness. I suggest starting with 1 tsp of cacao powder and working your way up until you're satisfied with the taste. Also, not really a huge fan of the cinnamon bit, but after I tweaked the recipe a little, it satisfied my chocolate craving.

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Thank you for the tips, Cynthia, I think it depends on your palate. I like my chocolate treats bittersweet but it is best to use the cacao to taste. Cinnamon and coffee are two flavours that usually work well with chocolate but it is certainly not to everyone's taste 😊

Kay 5 years ago # Reply

I couldn't agree more. I had to use up some HWC I had in the fridge and came across this. I didn't like the taste at all. The cinnamon or the amount of cacao.
I had to make some adjustments to my second batch and stick it in the freezer, after it sat for a while it was much better.

Marcel 5 years ago # Reply

I agree, 1 spoon should be enough. For chocolate craving people 2 spoons should do. Just my opinion.

Kathryn 5 years ago # Reply

I have been known to switch out 1 Tbs cocoa for 1 Tbs peanut flour. This satisfies my chocolate peanut butter cravings though it changes the macros.

Adam 5 years ago # Reply

Adding vanilla protein powder to it! Does great for the macros!

Martina @ KetoDiet 5 years ago # Reply

Great suggestion, thank you! Collagen would be great too 😊
