Put the rockfish fillets in a pan and add the blackened seasoning on top. Then bake it in the center rack of the oven (details in recipe card below). As it bakes, make the avocado sauce. The fish is done baking when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F internal temperature when checked with a meat thermometer in the thickest part of the fish. Fish will be opaque all the way through when finished cooking.

When the fish is done baking drizzle with the sauce and serve with vegetables and rice. Or turn this blackened rockfish recipe into rockfish tacos sprinkled with lemon juice.

Good One! We'll do it again. We did 1 lb of rock in two fillets. When I do this again I'll halve the rub, or simply only use as much as needed to get an even coat that's neither light nor heavy... if that makes sense. I went heavy and the heat was a tad too much. I'd cut the avocado sauce by about half as well. We only used about 1/4 of the cream sauce. I'd still do the full avocado but cut the water and yogurt by half or more. Once mixed add some more if you need to thin it. I might start with the foil over the fish. I had to foil it after about 2 minutes. The 1 inch thick fillet was about 8 minutes and my thicker fillet went about 11 minutes. We paired it with creamy parmesan rice and it was excellent.

It was delicious! I used less cilantro, since I'm cooking for 2 people. I had it with black beans and a little corn tortilla with fried cheese in it. It was a great dinner, light and healthy.

Super yummy and so easy. It was a bit spicy and I'm a wimp but the avocado sauce helped temper the heat. I had mine over a bed of arugula and cabbage. Everyone else had it street taco style.

I would give it 6 stars if I could. I just had blackened rockfish tacos in Victoria, British Columbia, and these were better than what I had there....and they were excellent. I will make this regularly. The avocado cilantro sauce I could eat right out of the bowl. At first I thought, 2 cups of cilantro seems like quite a bit, but the flavor just pops! I shredded up some fresh grown kale from our garden (to substitute for cabbage), and this was one of the best dishes I ever cooked from home. I would be more than happy ordering this from any restaurant in the country! Amazing job, Danielle!!!

This was delicious and really simple to make! Instacart accidentally delivered flat leaf parsley instead of cilantro, and the sauce was still really good. I added an extra squeeze of lime juice and a few shakes of cumin to compensate for the switch and it worked great. My only change for next time would be to add only half or 2/3 of the water to the blender at first & check the consistency to see if you need more. Our medium sized avocado felt stretched just a little thin with the full cup, but it was still amazing.
