Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Exceptional in no-decision

    3h ago

Mikolas didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Pittsburgh, allowing one hit and one walk across seven scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Mikolas carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, when Bryan Reynolds broke up the no-no with a leadoff triple. Despite his outstanding start, Mikolas wasn't able to pick up the win as the Cardinals didn't put up a run until the bottom of the ninth. Though the 35-year-old completed seven innings for the first time in 2024, he only threw 84 pitches. Mikolas has generated a quality start in four straight appearances and hasn't allowed more than three runs in six consecutive starts. He'll head to Wrigley Field to close out a two-start week Sunday.

    4h ago

Skenes didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing five hits and no walks across 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

Skenes was locked into a pitchers duel with Miles Mikolas, as the first run of the game didn't come across until the ninth inning leaving both starters with no-decisions. Individually, Skenes was excellent once again, punching out seven or more batters for the fifth time in six starts while issuing no walks for the first time all year. Through 33.1 innings, Skenes has struck out 46 batters and owns a 2.43 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. He'll make his first trip to Coors Field on Sunday to face off against the Rockies.

Royals' Brady Singer: Rocked by Yankees

    4h ago

Singer (4-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Singer was in trouble from the start, allowing a triple to Anthony Volpe on just his second pitch of the day as part of a two-run first inning for the Yankees. Singer had more issues in the fourth, where Austin Wells launched a three-run home run to plate Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres to give New York a 6-0 lead. The 27-year-old's seven runs allowed marked a season high and he failed to complete six innings for the fifth time in his last six starts. He'll have another tough draw for his next start, with a road matchup with Dodgers set for Sunday.

Padres' Randy Vasquez: Yields one run Tuesday

    4h ago

Vasquez allowed one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Tuesday.

Vasquez's first pitch of the game was deposited over the center-field wall by Abraham Toro. Beyond that, Vasquez was able to settle in for a fine start. The right-hander has allowed seven runs over 16.2 innings across his three outings in June. For the season, he has a 4.93 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB over eight starts, but it appears he's gotten more comfortable the longer he stays in the majors. Vasquez is tentatively projected for a tough road outing versus the Phillies his next time out.
